A dawning beauty - N. Rosy Sunrise.

From the moment I first saw it, I knew it was something special. A handful of these were growing in the old hilltop garden, among others planted by Dr. Gyla McDowell.

Simply incandescent… from soft yellow to glowing peach — gradient and radiant!

This variety grows in a wide range of conditions, forming into thick masses — pearl-clutching clumps!

Rosy Sunrise enjoyed its first morning at F. Rijnveld and Sons. Others from their garden include Delibes, Petit Four, and Sweet Harmony.

Rosy Sunrise is likely a descendent of Mrs. R.O. Backhouse, which was used heavily for breeding. The Dutch were interested in prime garden plants that propagated easily. Rosy Sunrise was among these, introduced after World War II (Mitsch 135).

The middle of the last century was the heyday for Rosy Sunrise. With some attention, maybe it could dawn again.
