A tazetta for the North — N. Geranium.

I live in the north, and most tazettas do not get enough sun here. But Geranium not only survives — it thrives!

Geranium is tall, strong, and features multiple florets per stem. It increases in the woods, but grows wildly in full sun. It has the classic polyanthus look, but is winter hardy.

Geranium is J.B. van der Schoot’s most successful variety. He registered a total of eleven, and two are world-famous. The other is Cheerfulness.

Like all tazettas, Geranium has a powerful aroma. If you can bear to cut some, bring the perfume indoors. A bouquet looks glamorous in tall vases!

It’s as close as you can get to the Chinese Sacred Lily, while surviving our winters — Geranium!
