An acquired appreciation… N. Eastern Dawn.

I purchased Eastern Dawn with several flashier varieties, and it was planted among them. As a result, I overlooked it for years.

While preparing this work, however, I gained a new appreciation for it. I should mention the rapid rate of multiplication, but that’s not all — it’s a welcome departure.

Eastern Dawn’s petals are sparkling white, with pronounced midribs. The corona is the color of the sunrise… very uplifting.

Mr. Guy L. Wilson, the hybridizer, was one of the most passionate ever, having registered 654 new daffodils. His most successful include Dreamlight, Stainless, and Passionale.

Eastern Dawn opens toward the end of the season, and keeps the excitement going for at least another week.
